| Bio: | (The Art of Poetry) To gaze at a river made of time and water And remember Time is another river. To know we stray like a river and our faces vanish like water. To feel that waking is another dream that dreams of not dreaming and that the death we fear in our bones is the death that every night we call a dream. To see in every day and year a symbol of all the days of man and his years, and convert the outrage of the years into a music, a sound, and a symbol. To see in death a dream, in the sunset a golden sadness--such is poetry, humble and immortal, poetry, returning, like dawn and the sunset. Sometimes at evening there's a face that sees us from the deeps of a mirror. Art must be that sort of mirror, disclosing to each of us his face. They say Ulysses, wearied of wonders, wept with love on seeing Ithaca, humble and green. Art is that Ithaca, a green eternity, not wonders. Art is endless like a river flowing, passing, yet remaining, a mirror to the same inconstant Heraclitus, who is the same and yet another, like the river flowing. (Shinto) When sorrow lays us low for a second we are saved by humble windfalls of the mindfulness or memory: the taste of a fruit, the taste of water, that face given back to us by a dream, the first jasmine of November, the endless yearning of the compass, a book we thought was lost, the throb of a hexameter, the slight key that opens a house to us, the smell of a library, or of sandalwood, the former name of a street, the colors of a map, an unforeseen etymology, the smoothness of a filed fingernail, the date we were looking for, the twelve dark bell-strokes, tolling as we count, a sudden physical pain. Eight million Shinto deities travel secretly throughout the earth. Those modest gods touch us-- touch us and move on. ~Jorge Luis Borges~ (I do not love you as....)- Pablo Neruda I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz, or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off. I love you as certain dark things are to be loved, in secret, between the shadow and the soul. I love you as the plant that never blooms but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers; thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance, risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body. I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way that this: where I does not exist, nor you, so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep. All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible. ~Thomas Edward (Lawrence of Arabia) (Happiness) A state you must dare not enter with hopes of staying, quicksand in the marshes, and all the roads leading to a castle that doesn't exist. But there it is, as a promised, with its perfect bridge above the crocodiles, and its doors forever open. Stephen Dunn -- BETWEEN ANGELS (1989) (Orkney/This Life) It is big sky and its changes, the sea all round and the waters within. It is the way sea and sky work off each other constantly, like people meeting in Alfred Street, each face coming away with a hint of the other's face pressed in it. It is the way a week-long gale ends and folk emerge to hear a single bird cry way high up. It is the way you lean to me and the way I lean to you, as if we are each other's prevailing; how we connect along our shores, the way we are tidal islands joined for hours then inaccessible, I'll go for that, and smile when I pick sand off myself in the shower. The way I am an inland loch to you when a clatter of white whoops and rises... It is the way Scotland looks to the South, the way we enter friends' houses to leave what we came with, or flick the kettle's switch and wait. This is where I want to live, close to where the heart gives out, ruined, perfected, an empty arch against the sky where birds fly through instead of prayers while in Hoy Sound the fern's engines thrum this life this life this life. (Every Day) War is no longer declared, only continued. The monstrous has become everyday. The hero stays away from battle. The weak have gone to the front. The uniform of the day is patience, its medal the pitiful star of hope above the heart. The medal is awarded when nothing more happens, when the artillery falls silent, when the enemy has grown invisible and the shadow of eternal armament covers the sky. It is awarded for desertion of the flag, for bravery in the face of friends, for the betrayal of unworthy secrets and the disregard of every command. -Ingeborg Bachmann (The Road Not Taken) Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that, the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. -Robert Frost -(Interests)- Writing, life, living, breathing, surviving, learning from my own mistakes, finding some serenity in a day filled with Chaos, Poetry, prose, books, reading, short stories, sonnets, novels,Novellas,Notebooks, singing, art, Color, sculpture, drawing, painting, dancing, politics, forensics, finding the answer, debate, Vocabulary, Greek Mythology, Music, Philosophy, Religions, Deism, witt, sarcasm, foreign languages, Humanitarian work, History, foreign affairs, People, Psychology, The subconcious, Biology related sciences, Biographies, Memoirs,Comedy, concepts, ideas, theories, Individuality,Individualists, Intellect, eccentricty,Humility, ethnic food, ethnic jewelery, long coats, boots, dress design, The rennaisance, The enlightment, Leonardo Da Vinci, Mother teresa, Eleanor Rosevelt, Mahatma Gahndi, India, England, Chelsea London, Wales,Ireland,Paris,Boston, Memories with meaning, Medecine, Cold/ brisk and beautiful days,Culture, Gardens, bubble baths, Watching the stars late at night on a clear sky, Walks on the Beach, Nature, sociology, Meterology, Sean Connery, Nicholas Cage, Robin Williams, Johnny Depp, Jodie Foster, Meryll Streep, Anthony Hopkins, Kate Winslet, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger, Clive Owen, Angelina Jolie, Richart Grant, Hue O'flarrety, Susan B.
